The Bonner Springs—Edwardsville Area Chamber of Commerce named the City of Edwardsville as the 2016 Chamber Business of the Year. The award was announced at the group’s annual meeting and banquet held on February 3, 2017 at Dub’s Dread Golf Club in Kansas City, KS.
The Chamber Business of the Year distinction is awarded to the Chamber of Commerce member who is active in the group’s events and regularly contributes to the economic well being of the region. The selection of the City as the 2016 Chamber Business of the Year was due to the City’s involvement in the community and its long standing and productive Chamber membership. Chamber representatives praised City officials who dedicated their time to be active participants in Chamber events and planning sessions.
In addition to contributing to Chamber activities, the City has experienced growth as an organization as well, both in terms of staffing and output. The City added a Customer Service Clerk to better respond to residents’ needs and all departments have seen a rise in work loads compared to 2015 figures. These trends are expected to continue throughout 2017 sand beyond.
Assistant City Manager Zack Daniel serves as a Board Member for the Chamber and City Manager Michael Webb serves in an ex officio capacity. Present to accept the award a the banquet were Mr. Webb along with Parks & Recreation Supervisor Mike Martin and elected officials Mayor John “Tiny” McTaggart and City Councilmembers Chuck Adams, Jason Gillam, Garrett Mellott, and Chuck Stites.
The Chamber’s Executive Director Regina Utter commented, “The award committee was excited to select the City of Edwardsville as the 2016 Chamber Business of the Year. They work tirelessly to make our community a better place to work and live. The City staff and volunteers go above and beyond and their joy shows in their commitment to our community.”
