Pulse Point Now Available in KC Area

During the August 28 City Council meeting, Fire Chief Tim Whitham highlighted a new mobile app that now has functionality in the Kansas City region. PulsePoint is new mobile app that improves the chance that a bystander will take lifesaving steps prior to the arrival of emergency medical services on scene. According to recent figures, 57% of U.S. adults say they’ve had CPR training, and most would be willing to use CPR or an AED to help save a stranger’s life. Yet only 11% say they’ve used CPR in an actual emergency. PulsePoint aims to increase that number by dispatching an alert when a potentially life threatening event occurs. The app is free and is available on both Apple and Android devices.
