The Edwardsville Public Works Department was prepared for the late November snow/ice event that hit the Kansas City metro area Sunday, November 25. Snow accumulated up to 6 inches in some locations in addition to periods of sleet and freezing rain. A total of 56 staff hours between four regular Public Works employees (including Director Tammy Snyder) and one Fire Department employee began treating the roads at 8:00 am on Sunday, November 25 and did not finish plowing until 5:30 am the following morning.
The department also received high praise on the City's Facebook page, with many residents commenting that the streets in Edwardsville were the best cleared part of their morning commutes. The City Council also recognized the efforts of the department at the group's November 26 regular meeting.
