The City Council approved Resolution 2018-23 in August authorizing the City to acquire a new fire apparatus. The total purchase price is estimated at $745,865. An additional $50,000 is estimated for loose equipment. Funding is allocated in the Special Sales Tax fund for Fire Department vehicle acquisitions.
The new ladder truck will replace a Seagrave Pumper, which was sold to an Alabama company that refurbished public safety vehicles.
Edwardsville Fire Chief Tim Whitham as visited the site where the vehicle is being assembled to ensure that the work is being done to specifications.
Delivery of the truck is expected in the coming weeks
