1. Do I need a permit for my garage sale?

No. Edwardsville does not require a permit. However, please follow sign regulations. Do not place signs on sign posts or light poles. Also, do not post signs in the right-of-ways and please take your signs down at the end of your garage sale.

3. What is the process for applying for a fence permit?

A fence permit may be obtained from City Hall by submitting the Fence Permit Application Form (PDF) and all necessary documentation for review and approval prior to installation or replacement of a fence. Information required on the application includes height, materials, location of the fence, as well as other information to ensure the fence meets applicable regulations.

4. How much does a fence permit cost?

5. Do I have to pay the admin. fee if I do not appear in court?

Admin. fees are assessed on all tickets and must be paid whether or not there is an actual court appearance. Admin. fees are $65.50. If you have any questions, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.

6. Can I continue my court date?

The court clerk is authorized to continue your court date one time if the case has not been continued before. To continue your case, please contact the court clerk at 913-441-3707 ext. 30. If you have previously requested a continuance and want to request another one, you must do so in person and have it approved by the prosecutor or judge. There are no exceptions.

Phones are not answered during court sessions. For court session information, please visit the Municipal Court webpage. Leaving a message on the court answering machine will not secure a continuance. Failure to appear at your scheduled court hearing may result in a bench warrant being issued for your arrest.

7. How do I apply to serve on a City Advisory Board, Committee or Commission?

An Interest Form for serving on a City Advisory Board, Committee, or Commission will need to be completed and returned to the City Clerk.

The form will be reviewed by the Mayor. If selected, you will be contacted to confirm if still interested in serving before an appointment is made.

8. Can I amend my ticket?

The court clerk is authorized to amend speeding tickets up to 20 mph over the posted speed limit as well as other minor traffic infractions. Amendments are not offered for violations occurring in a school zone or for CDL license holders. For instructions on amending a ticket, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.

9. What are the hours of City Hall?

City Hall hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. With exception of scheduled Holidays.

10. Do I need a kennel license for my dogs or cats?

Per Sec. 2.03.008 of the Edwardsville City Code

(a) No person or household shall own or harbor more than three dogs of six months of age or older or more than one litter of pups, or more than three cats of more than six months of age or more than one litter of kittens, or more than a total of three dogs and cats more than six months of age in any combination, or engage in the commercial business of breeding, buying, selling, trading, training, or boarding cats or dogs or both cats and dogs, without having obtained a kennel license from the city clerk.
