Can I continue my court date?: The court clerk is authorized to continue your court date one time if the case has not been continued before. To continue your case, please contact the court clerk at 913-441-3707 ext. 30. If you have previously requested a continuance and want to request another one, you must do so in person and have it approved by the prosecutor or judge. There are no exceptions.

Phones are not answered during court sessions. For court session information, please visit the Municipal Court webpage. Leaving a message on the court answering machine will not secure a continuance. Failure to appear at your scheduled court hearing may result in a bench warrant being issued for your arrest.

2. Can I continue my court date?: The court clerk is authorized to continue your court date one time if the case has not been continued before. 3. What forms of payment do you accept?: We accept cash, money order, cashiers check, personal check, and credit or debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). If your personal check is returned for insufficient funds, your drivers license will automatically be suspended and a reinstatement fee of $81, per charge, will be assessed in addition to any other fines or fees associated with your charge. 4. Can I amend my ticket?: The court clerk is authorized to amend speeding tickets up to 20 mph over the posted speed limit as well as other minor traffic infractions. An amendment is not offered for violations occurring in a school zone. For more information and/or to see if you qualify for an amendment, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.

5. Do I have to come to court for a no proof of insurance ticket if I have insurance?: If you were cited for No Proof of Insurance and have verification of current insurance for the date you were cited, you can resolve it prior to your court date by providing the information in person, by fax, or by emailing it to the court clerk.

Upon verification of valid insurance, the charge will be dismissed. Please be advised, court costs are assessed even if the charge is dismissed. If you have any questions, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.

6. Do I have to pay the court costs if I do not appear in court?: Court costs are assessed on all tickets and must be paid whether or not there is an actual court appearance. Court costs are $66.00. If you have any questions, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.
