Ambulance Service Information
The Edwardsville Fire Department provides first response medical care
to provide rapid intervention in medical emergencies. Ambulance
service to the citizens of Edwardsville is currently being contracted
with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department. In accordance with the
contract, all citizens will be provided with ALS (advanced life support
or paramedic) care. However, not all ambulances are staffed with a
paramedic. In the event that a BLS (basic life support or EMT)
ambulance responds to Edwardsville, a fire truck from the Kansas City,
Kansas Fire Department with a paramedic on board will respond to
Edwardsville as well. It may not be uncommon to see two
Edwardsville fire trucks , one KCKFD fire truck, and an ambulance on
medical calls.
