Continuing a court date:
If you are needing a continuance of your court date and this is the first time you are requesting one, you can contact the court clerk and she can provide a new court date by phone.
Amending a ticket:
The court clerk is authorized to amend speeding tickets up to 20 mph over the speed limit as well as other traffic infractions (i.e. - running a stop sign). Contact the court clerk for more information on obtaining an amendment. Amendments are not offered for violations occuring in a school zone.
(FYI) SPEEDING TICKETS NOT CONSIDERED MOVING VIOLATIONS
Effective July 01, 2001, the speed limits in Kansas were amended and included a 10-mile per hour buffer on highways and interstates where the authorized speed limit is at least 55 mph but not exceeding 70 mph (K.S.A. 8-1560(d)).
Effective July 01, 2007, K.S.A. 8-1560(d) was amended to include a 6-mile per hour buffer where the authorized speed limit is at least 30 mph but not exceeding 54 mph.

A speeding conviction that is within the allowed buffer limits is not to be considered a moving violation or be recorded on the driving record. Any speeding conviction occurring where the authorized speed limit is other than those listed above is considered a moving violation and the conviction is entered on the driving record.

Please note, if your personal check is returned for insufficient funds, your drivers license will automatically be suspended.

Paying court costs
Court costs are assessed on all tickets and must be paid whether or not there is an actual court appearance. Court costs are $54.50.
