OPERATIONS AND PATROL

VISION

We envision every member being in an active partnership with community leaders and members of our community to make this a safe place to live.  We want all citizens to feel free to come to us for help with their security and safety concerns.  The citizens will be met with respect and treated with empathy and courtesy.  We will join with the citizens to find workable solutions.

 OPERATIONS/PATROL

The Patrol Division of the Edwardsville Police Department is the largest group of responders for the city. This division is comprised of uniform officers and sergeants that are responsible for the twenty-four hour daily patrols. As a community policing department, our officers work very closely with community members to ensure that their neighborhoods remain safe.

Every day at work is unique at our Department. Officers can find themselves enforcing the traffic laws, responding for emergency calls for help, or investigating criminal activity. As we are grounded in the community, many of our Officers have the opportunity to work closely with residents in meetings to solve problems, and to provide education on creating a safe, healthy and self-reliant community.

Officers in our department will work diligently in getting to know the City and its neighborhoods. Uniform Service offers unique assignments including Field Training Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, Range Master and Public Information Officer. All of our Officers are required to be certified through the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and many are certified as instructors in different law enforcement fields.

Our Patrol Division currently operates on three shifts of eight hours and each officer works five days on with two days off.  Each shift has a sergeant and an acting sergeant to ensure supervision at all times.

Our entire department is dedicated to Community Oriented Policing; however we do have a sergeant that oversees the Community Policing functions.  Sgt. Sheila Rogoza is the point of contact for any community related function if a citizen would like a Police Officer to be present for questions or comments.  She can be contacted by calling (913) 441-6983 or e-mail her at srogoza@edwardsvilleks.org

Although the Police Department provides protection 24 hours a day the administrative offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.  The number they can be reached at is (913) 441-6983.  If you require an Officer after hours you may contact (913) 596-3000 to have an Officer respond to your location.  If you have an emergency please call 911.
