Councilmember Jason Gillam was elected to the Edwardsville City Council in April 2013, after serving 2 terms on the Planning Commission.

Mr. Gillam has a proven track record of asking questions, looking for opportunities to strengthen the position of the City of Edwardsville, and reviewing the facts and making decisions based on strong reasoning. As a Planning Commissioner, he was involved in the update of our city’s Comprehensive Plan and city code in an effort to ensure that we are prepared for growth in the coming years, believing that it is important to make sure the proper frame work is in place that protects our citizens.

Professionally, Mr. Gillam is the Assistant Director of Business Operations for a K-12 public school district that has over 21,000 students and is spread out over 90 plus square miles. He oversees several key support departments including Purchasing, Printing Services, Warehousing, Student Transportation, and Asset Retirement. Under his leadership, Printing Services has seen tremendous production growth while the staffing levels have remained consistent by focusing on efficiency and cost reduction to support staff that has direct impact on student learning.

Shortly after his election, Mayor McTaggart appointed Mr. Gillam as the council representative to the Design and Review Committee for the City of Edwardsville. He also represented the city at the League of Kansas Municipalities annual meeting in October 2013.

Mr. Gillam holds a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts Management and Business Administration from Ball State University, as well as an Associate of Science in Printing Technology, also from Ball State. He has lived in Edwardsville for 10 years with his wife, Rebecca, and their 2 children.
