[ARCHIVED] Cemetery Memorial Day Service to Be Streamed Online

Per the direction of the Cemetery, Parks, and Public Spaces (CPPS) Board, the traditional Memorial Day service at the Edwardsville Cemetery will take a slightly different shape this year. The Board is recommending that individuals who visit the cemetery do so on their own time and not part of a larger public gathering. This will help ensure proper social distancing is adhered to during the ongoing public health situation.

A local community member will be performing TAPS while a local faith leader will provide a reading. Public safety departments will be on hand during the short ceremony to pay their respects as well. The short ceremony will be streamed live on the Fire Department’s Facebook page so people can enjoy the ceremony at home and visit the cemetery at a different time.

The event will not go on as planned if there is lightning spotted and staff will continue to monitor the weather leading up to the event.
