1. Do I need a permit for my garage sale?

No. Edwardsville does not require a permit. However, please follow sign regulations. Do not place signs on sign posts or light poles. Also, do not post signs in the right-of-ways and please take your signs down at the end of your garage sale.

5. Do I have to pay the admin. fee if I do not appear in court?

6. Can I continue my court date?

The court clerk is authorized to continue your court date one time if the case has not been continued before. To continue your case, please contact the court clerk at 913-441-3707 ext. 30. If you have previously requested a continuance and want to request another one, you must do so in person and have it approved by the prosecutor or judge. There are no exceptions.

7. How do I apply to serve on a City Advisory Board, Committee or Commission?

An Interest Form for serving on a City Advisory Board, Committee, or Commission will need to be completed and returned to the City Clerk.

The form will be reviewed by the Mayor. If selected, you will be contacted to confirm if still interested in serving before an appointment is made.

8. Can I amend my ticket?

The court clerk is authorized to amend speeding tickets up to 20 mph over the posted speed limit as well as other minor traffic infractions. Amendments are not offered for violations occurring in a school zone or for CDL license holders. For instructions on amending a ticket, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.

9. What are the hours of City Hall?

City Hall hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. With exception of scheduled Holidays.

10. Do I need a kennel license for my dogs or cats?

(a) No person or household shall own or harbor more than three dogs of six months of age or older or more than one litter of pups, or more than three cats of more than six months of age or more than one litter of kittens, or more than a total of three dogs and cats more than six months of age in any combination, or engage in the commercial business of breeding, buying, selling, trading, training, or boarding cats or dogs or both cats and dogs, without having obtained a kennel license from the city clerk.

1. When is a fence permit required in the City of Edwardsville?

A fence permit is required to erect a new fence, move or replace an existing fence, or repair 50% or more of an existing fence. Except fences or walls used for agricultural purposes do not need a fence permit. Agricultural purposes shall include land that is zoned AG/R and used for the raising of crops, horticulture, animal and poultry husbandry and kennels.

We accept cash, money order, cashiers check, personal check, and credit or debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). If your personal check is returned for insufficient funds, your drivers license will automatically be suspended and a reinstatement fee of $81, per charge, will be assessed in addition to any other fines or fees associated with your charge. 5. Do I have to come to court for a no proof of insurance ticket if I have insurance?

If you were cited for No Proof of Insurance and have verification of current insurance for the date you were cited, you can resolve it prior to your court date by providing the information in person, by fax, or by emailing it to the court clerk.

Upon verification of valid insurance, the charge will be dismissed. Please be advised, court costs are assessed even if the charge is dismissed. If you have any questions, please contact the Municipal Court at 913-441-3707, ext. 30.

6. Do I have to pay the court costs if I do not appear in court?

1. How do I obtain a police report?

Accidents reports and offense reports are available after it has been finalized and approved by a Police supervisor. Only page one of the offense report is available to the public. Arrest reports are available to Attorneys under Discovery with the Municipal Court.

Accident reports can be obtained through mailing in payment, along with letter requesting the report or can be obtained by coming into the Police Department. Proof of identification is required to obtain police reports. For offense reports, requests must be made in person at the Police Department. View fees here.

2. How do I obtain a Tow Release?

The Tow Release must be picked up at the Edwardsville Police Department before a car can be released from the tow lot. If there is a hold on a vehicle for expired registration or proof of insurance, proof must be provided that the information is current before a Tow Release is given. Also if the vehicle was impounded for Driving While Suspended, a driver with a valid DL must be present to drive the car.
ONLY THE REGISTERED OWNER OF THE VEHICLE CAN OBTAIN THE TOW RELEASE. PROOF OF VEHICLE REGISTRATION MAY BE NEEDED TO SHOW OWNERSHIP.
